About Random Comics
Random Comics is a home for standalone one-shots, strange experiments, and comic series that grow beyond a single issue.
Some comics are based on dreams. Some come from sudden shower thoughts, weird news, superhero concepts, game-inspired ideas, or random sparks of imagination that demanded to become something real. Some ideas only need one finished comic. Others may build into recurring characters, settings, and issue-to-issue continuity.
The comics collected here may vary in tone, style, length, format, and genre. You might find superhero action, sci-fi weirdness, dream logic, horror, comedy, mythic strangeness, standalone stories, or the beginning of a larger series.
Think of this as a creative sketchbook turned into a comic archive: a place where spontaneous ideas can become finished stories, whether they stand alone or keep expanding.
Not every comic needs a universe.
But when a strange little story grows into one, Random Comics has room for that too.

Characters
Character Descriptions Character: Mister Sandman - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: leader of the Dream Guardians, distant commander, symbol of the Storyverse's defense. - Visual identifiers: Tall older Black man with calm eyes, silver-white close-cropped hair, neatly trimmed white beard, long midnight-blue coat over Lucid Light Conduit armor, sand-like golden starlight drifting from his cuffs, and a quiet commander presence. His armor glows purple at the seams and looks practical rather than ornamental. - Continuity notes: Mister Sandman leads the Dream Guardians across the Storyverse. In Issue 1 he appears briefly through a Lucid Light signal to define the larger war and send help, but he does not solve the problem for the dreamer. - Reference image: ../reference-images/mister-sandman-character.png Character: Lena Ortiz - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: issue protagonist, anxious dreamer, young mapmaker, possible Lucid Dreamer. - Visual identifiers: Latina girl around 13, slim build, warm brown skin, dark brown eyes, round face, thick black curly hair tied back with loose curls escaping, yellow rain jacket over a blue hoodie, black leggings, worn red sneakers, and a small sketchbook with map doodles. Her expressions shift from tense perfectionism to focused courage. - Continuity notes: Lena dreams into the Storyverse during a night of school anxiety and learns that a perfect plan is less important than adapting honestly. Her Lucid Light is unstable but genuine. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lena-ortiz-character.png Character: Captain Quill - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: Dream Guardian of Inkfall Reef, mentor, tactical ally. - Visual identifiers: Amphibious humanoid Dream Guardian with teal-blue skin, gold-flecked eyes, subtle gill marks along the neck, short swept-back sea-green hair, lean athletic build, weathered copper-and-purple Lucid Light Conduit armor, ink-stained gloves, and a long feather-like cartographer spear that can draw glowing map lines in the air. - Continuity notes: Captain Quill protects Inkfall Reef and teaches Lena that maps are promises to revise, not proof that the traveler cannot get lost. - Reference image: ../reference-images/captain-quill-character.png Character: The Eraser - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: Nightmare antagonist, fear beast, predator of unfinished stories. - Visual identifiers: Tall shapeshifting monster made of wet black paper, bone-white eraser dust, ink-smeared claws, a long faceless head that can split into false friendly faces, and glowing red pencil-scratch eyes. Its body constantly sheds scraps of half-erased maps and failed endings. - Continuity notes: The Eraser feeds on fear of mistakes and unfinished work. It can sense fear and shapeshift into the image of a ruined future, but it can be lured by deliberately planted false fears. - Reference image: ../reference-images/the-eraser-nightmare-character.png Character: Dream Guardians - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: recurring faction defending dreamers and bubble universes from Nightmares. - Visual identifiers: Diverse warriors, scouts, healers, and guides in battle-worn Lucid Light Conduit armor. Each Guardian's armor reflects their home world, but all share purple conduit seams, practical protection, and a calm readiness under impossible pressure. - Continuity notes: Dream Guardians are not invincible. They win through planning, sacrifice, and cooperation with dreamers. - Reference image: ../reference-images/dream-guardians-character.png Character: Nightmares - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Role: recurring monstrous fear beasts and primary threat across the Storyverse. - Visual identifiers: Predatory shapeshifters that combine animal menace, emotional symbolism, and physical corruption. Each Nightmare should look unique, but all should feel like fear made hungry and alive. - Continuity notes: Nightmares feed on fear, sense fear, and shapeshift. They are dangerous because they understand what their prey wants to avoid. - Reference image: ../reference-images/the-eraser-nightmare-character.png Character: Thomas Jerry - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Role: issue protagonist, impulsive laser-tag player, Lucid Dreamer. - Visual identifiers: Young man around 19, medium brown skin, short tight black curls, expressive dark eyes, lean build, clean-shaven face, red-and-black laser tag vest over a gray hoodie, black athletic pants, scuffed white sneakers, and a plastic arena laser tag blaster with heat-warning lights. - Continuity notes: Thomas dreams into Neon Meridian after losing a laser tag match. His Lucid Light responds to his tactical understanding: first as a weapon, then more powerfully as cover and battlefield control. - Reference image: ../reference-images/thomas-jerry-character.png Character: Sentinel Jax - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Role: cyborg Dream Guardian of Neon Meridian, tactical mentor, protector. - Visual identifiers: Cyborg Dream Guardian in his early 30s with warm tan skin on the human side of his face, cropped black hair, one natural brown eye, one violet cybernetic lens eye, a chrome cybernetic right arm and shoulder, practical matte graphite Dream Guardian Conduit armor with purple Lucid Light seams, compact utility pouches, and calm tactical posture. - Continuity notes: Sentinel Jax protects Neon Meridian through restraint, cover, and measured shots rather than spectacle. His cybernetics interface cleanly with Lucid Light Conduit armor. - Reference image: ../reference-images/sentinel-jax-character.png Character: The Overheat Virus - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Role: Nightmare antagonist expressed through a citywide computer infection and laser-drone swarm. - Visual identifiers: Black-and-red laser drones with cracked glass sensor eyes, exposed hot coils, red glitch patterns, smoke from overheated vents, jagged digital static, and predatory synchronized movement. - Continuity notes: The Overheat Virus feeds on panic, overreaction, and wasteful energy. It weaponizes helpful laser systems by removing restraint, corrupting cooldown logic, and making every beam hunt civilians. - Reference image: ../reference-images/overheat-virus-drones-character.png
Settings
Setting Descriptions Setting: The Storyverse - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Dream Realm expanse filled with floating translucent bubble universes, each containing a different genre, landscape, era, or impossible world. Purple Lucid Light runs like currents between bubbles while black Nightmare wounds scar some worlds. - Continuity notes: Every possible story exists somewhere in the Storyverse. Most dreamers only see one bubble universe at a time, but Dream Guardians navigate between them. - Reference image: ../reference-images/storyverse-bubble-universes-setting.png Setting: The Cosmic Sea - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Endless dark ocean under a violet starfield, glowing foam, impossible tides, luminous jellyfish constellations, amphibious magical beings, enormous shells, finned silhouettes, and bubble universes rising from the water like living planets. - Continuity notes: Bubble universes bubble up and float out of the Cosmic Sea. The sea is older than most Storyverse worlds and can be beautiful or terrifying depending on the dreamer's state. - Reference image: ../reference-images/cosmic-sea-setting.png Setting: Inkfall Reef - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: A floating reef-world of coral islands, tide pools full of glowing ink, paper-white bridges, living cartography towers, compass-shell markets, map waterfalls, and purple Lucid Light running through reef veins. Sections of the world can fold like paper maps. - Continuity notes: Inkfall Reef is a bubble universe where routes, memories, and possible endings appear as living maps. The Eraser attacks it because unfinished maps create abundant fear. - Reference image: ../reference-images/inkfall-reef-setting.png Setting: Lena's Bedroom - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Small lived-in bedroom with a desk covered in map sketches, school notebooks, pencil shavings, sticky notes, a thrift-store globe, rain on the window, and a desk lamp glowing late at night. - Continuity notes: Lena falls asleep here while trying to perfect a school project map. The ordinary stress of this room becomes the emotional bridge into Inkfall Reef. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lena-bedroom-setting.png Setting: Laser Tag Arena Locker Room - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Visual identifiers: Realistic indoor laser tag locker room with black benches, metal cubbies, red-and-blue LED strips, hanging vests, plastic blasters on charging racks, scuffed rubber floor, arena haze leaking in from the doorway, and dim arcade lighting. - Continuity notes: Thomas falls asleep here between matches after losing because he rushed and overheated his blaster. The ordinary arena becomes the emotional bridge into Neon Meridian. - Reference image: ../reference-images/laser-tag-locker-room-setting.png Setting: Neon Meridian - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Visual identifiers: Bright utopian futuristic city with clean glass towers, public gardens, blue-white laser transit, laser medical kiosks, laser irrigation arrays, civic repair beams, reflective white walkways, and warm sunlight with violet Lucid Light reflections during the crisis. - Continuity notes: Neon Meridian solved many civic problems with careful laser technology before the Overheat Virus infected its systems. Its danger comes from helpful tools losing discipline. - Reference image: ../reference-images/neon-meridian-setting.png
Key Items
Key Item Descriptions Key Item: Lucid Light - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Cosmic purple energy with star-specks, luminous threads, lensing halos, geometric rings, and soft violet reflections across real surfaces. It should feel alive, clean, and responsive to intent. - Continuity notes: Lucid Light makes up the fabric of the Storyverse. Lucid Dreamers, Lucid Lords, and Lucid Light Conduits can manipulate it, but honest self-knowledge makes it stronger. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lucid-light-key-item.png Key Item: Dream Guardian Conduit Armor - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Practical battle armor built from real materials and glowing purple conduit seams, customized by world and wearer. It should look protective, worn, and usable in close combat. - Continuity notes: Dream Guardians use Lucid Light Conduit armor to resist Nightmares and shape Lucid Light in battle. - Reference image: ../reference-images/dream-guardian-conduit-armor-key-item.png Key Item: Captain Quill's Cartographer Spear - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Long feather-like spear with a copper shaft, translucent quill blade, purple Lucid Light nib, scratches from old battles, and ink that floats upward instead of dripping down. - Continuity notes: Captain Quill uses the spear to draw temporary map-lines, detours, bridges, and traps in the air. It is powerful but only works when the map describes a choice someone is willing to take. - Reference image: ../reference-images/cartographer-spear-key-item.png Key Item: Lena's Sketchbook - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Small worn sketchbook with rounded corners, red elastic strap, pencil-smudged pages, handmade maps, eraser marks, and purple Lucid Light leaking through one page after Lena arrives in Inkfall Reef. - Continuity notes: Lena's sketchbook becomes a temporary Lucid Light Conduit because she uses it to accept imperfect routes instead of hiding from them. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lena-sketchbook-key-item.png Key Item: Nightmare Fear Sense - First appears: Issue 1, "The Map That Feared the Ending" - Visual identifiers: Fear appears to Nightmares as red heat-like threads, trembling reflections, scratches on surfaces, or scent trails in the air. The visual language should change by Nightmare but always show predatory focus. - Continuity notes: Nightmares can sense fear, but fear can be redirected. A dreamer who understands what they fear can use it as bait, camouflage, or a false trail. - Reference image: ../reference-images/nightmare-fear-sense-key-item.png Key Item: Thomas's Laser Tag Blaster - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Visual identifiers: Plastic arena laser tag blaster with black shell, red trim, thumb-worn grip, glowing heat-warning bars, scuffed muzzle, and a small cooling vent that smokes when Thomas holds the trigger too long. - Continuity notes: The blaster's overheating teaches Thomas the ordinary version of the same lesson that saves Neon Meridian: constant fire creates vulnerability. - Reference image: ../reference-images/thomas-laser-tag-blaster-key-item.png Key Item: Lucid Light Laser Pistol - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Visual identifiers: Sleek compact pistol formed from cosmic purple Lucid Light, translucent star-specked barrel, luminous cooling vents, geometric lensing rings near the muzzle, and a grip sized to Sentinel Jax's cybernetic hand. - Continuity notes: Thomas creates the pistol for Sentinel Jax, but it is only effective when used with cooldown discipline and cover. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lucid-light-laser-pistol-key-item.png Key Item: Lucid Light Cover - First appears: Issue 2, "Trigger Discipline" - Visual identifiers: Translucent purple barricades and waist-high shields made of Lucid Light, star-speckled surfaces, hexagonal stress patterns, bright edges, and realistic reflections on nearby pavement. - Continuity notes: Thomas's strongest Lucid Light act in Issue 2 is not a weapon but protective cover that lets Sentinel Jax fight with timing and restraint. - Reference image: ../reference-images/lucid-light-cover-key-item.png
Issue Summaries
Issue Summaries Issue 1: The Map That Feared the Ending - Folder: series/storyverse-comics/issues/issue-01/ - Logline: An anxious young mapmaker dreams into Inkfall Reef and must help a Dream Guardian trap a Nightmare that feeds on her fear of choosing the wrong ending. - Plot summary: Lena Ortiz falls asleep while trying to perfect a school map project and wakes above the Cosmic Sea as bubble universes rise from the water around her. She lands in Inkfall Reef, a living map-world under attack by the Eraser, a shapeshifting Nightmare that erases routes and feeds on fear of mistakes. Captain Quill, the reef's Dream Guardian, saves Lena but cannot outfight the monster because it senses every honest fear. As Lena and Quill flee down a path made of maps, the Eraser erases the route behind them. Quill asks Lena to map them to safety, but Lena freezes because she thinks the map has to be perfect. Quill realizes her race for perfection is feeding the Nightmare, and Lena notices the monster is chasing them perfectly down the path. She redraws the path into a loop back through erased space, pulls Quill aside, and lets the Eraser race directly into the blank void, stunning it long enough for Quill to seal it in a blank bubble. Lena accepts that a map is useful because it can be revised. - Continuity changes: Storyverse Comics establishes the Storyverse, the Cosmic Sea, Dream Guardians, Lucid Light, Lucid Light Conduit armor, Nightmare shapeshifting, Nightmare fear sense, and the issue pattern of one dreamer, one world, one Guardian, and one Nightmare. - New characters: Mister Sandman; Lena Ortiz; Captain Quill; The Eraser; Dream Guardians; Nightmares. - New settings: The Storyverse; The Cosmic Sea; Inkfall Reef; Lena's Bedroom. - New key items: Lucid Light; Dream Guardian Conduit Armor; Captain Quill's Cartographer Spear; Lena's Sketchbook; Nightmare Fear Sense. - Reference images added: mister-sandman-character.png ; lena-ortiz-character.png ; captain-quill-character.png ; the-eraser-nightmare-character.png ; dream-guardians-character.png ; storyverse-bubble-universes-setting.png ; cosmic-sea-setting.png ; inkfall-reef-setting.png ; lena-bedroom-setting.png ; lucid-light-key-item.png ; dream-guardian-conduit-armor-key-item.png ; cartographer-spear-key-item.png ; lena-sketchbook-key-item.png ; nightmare-fear-sense-key-item.png . Issue 2: Trigger Discipline - Folder: series/storyverse-comics/issues/issue-02/ - Logline: A reckless laser-tag player dreams into a utopian laser city under drone attack and learns that smart cover, timing, and patience beat charging straight into the fight. - Plot summary: Thomas Jerry loses another laser tag match because he runs straight into the open and holds his trigger down until his blaster overheats. While napping in the arena locker room, he dreams into Neon Meridian, a utopian Storyverse city where laser technology heals, carries, grows, and repairs. The Overheat Virus infects the laser system and turns civic drones against civilians. Sentinel Jax tackles Thomas out of a drone's blast and asks him to create a weapon with Lucid Light. Thomas summons a Lucid Light laser pistol, but Jax shows him that a pistol alone is not a plan. Thomas watches a futuristic officer charge straight at the drones, overheat his own pistol, and fall. Recognizing his own mistake, Thomas creates Lucid Light cover instead of demanding more firepower. Jax uses the cover to take timed shots, letting the pistol cool between bursts, and the drones are defeated. Thomas wakes ready to play his next match with discipline. - Continuity changes: Storyverse Comics establishes Neon Meridian, Sentinel Jax, Thomas Jerry, the Overheat Virus, and Thomas's Lucid Light ability to create both weapons and cover when he understands the tactical need. - New characters: Thomas Jerry; Sentinel Jax; The Overheat Virus. - New settings: Laser Tag Arena Locker Room; Neon Meridian. - New key items: Thomas's Laser Tag Blaster; Lucid Light Laser Pistol; Lucid Light Cover. - Reference images added: thomas-jerry-character.png ; sentinel-jax-character.png ; overheat-virus-drones-character.png ; laser-tag-locker-room-setting.png ; neon-meridian-setting.png ; thomas-laser-tag-blaster-key-item.png ; lucid-light-laser-pistol-key-item.png ; lucid-light-cover-key-item.png .
